Ceremony Location: Tullyglass Hotel and Residences
Reception Suite: Corinthian
How did you meet?
We met when both of our families went on separate holidays to the same hotel in Turkey, we got to talking over some waffles and ice cream and the rest is history!
How did you propose?
I was supposed to propose to Natasha in Australia, then a little thing called Covid hit. I decided to book us a trip to the Slieve Donard in Newcastle for our 10 year anniversary and proposed that night after dinner in front of the hotel.
How did you begin planning your wedding?
The first thing we did was book ourselves into viewings for lots of different venues. Once we had decided on the venue and had a date booked in, we decided the next things that were important to us were the photographer and the DJ which were the next things we booked. After that, we just chipped away from our list of what we needed to do and it eventually all came together!
Why did you choose Tullyglass House Hotel as your Wedding Venue?
The Tullyglass was the first place we viewed out of several venues, and we just couldn’t get over how nice the hotel was – it just ticked all the right boxes for us. The reception room and conservatory were stunning and was eventually where we had our day. It was perfect from the food right down to the level of service from the staff and wedding coordinators, not to mention all the lovely Christmas decorations that made the perfect backdrop for our photos.
What was the best part in the build up to your Wedding Day?
The best part of the build up to our wedding was the stag and hen weekends where we could both let our hair down for a few days and not have to think about wedding planning. We also designed the stationary ourselves, the invites and the table plan, which was an enjoyable part to do together.
What was the highlight of your Wedding Day?
The highlight of our wedding was having one of our close friends sing Natasha down the aisle and then sing the both of us back up after we tied the knot, playing some of our favourite songs was very special. Another special moment for us was our two beagles were brought along for photos in the grounds of the Tullyglass.
What advice would you give to future couples getting married? Have you any top tips?
The number of things that need sorted for a wedding can be quite daunting, so I would recommend getting yourself a wedding journal or keeping track using an excel spreadsheet. This helps keep you organised with things that have been booked, deposits paid, what still needs sorted etc. Give yourself plenty of time and chipping away at your list slowly helps things from getting too stressful!
What was your reception entrance song?
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we wanted the next part of the evening to be a bit of fun and came dancing into the song “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate.
What was your first dance song?
Our first dance song was a favourite of Natasha’s for as long as she can remember. “It’s All About You” by McFly.
Where was your Honeymoon location?
We have always wanted to visit Australia so going for a longer period for our Honeymoon was the perfect opportunity. We spent 5 weeks travelling, Melbourne, Sydney, travelled down the East Coast in a campervan from Cairns to Byron Bay and finally flew to Perth. It was an amazing experience and got to visit friends and family along the way.
