Places to golf when you stay at Tullyglass
Tullyglass Hotel is no stranger to golf with many of Northern Ireland’s golf courses surrounding Tullyglass. Some are even walking distance!
Galgorm Castle Golf Club is located just across the road from our Ballymena hotel. The Galgorm Castle Golf Club is known as one of Ireland’s finest Championship parklands. This Championship layout is nestled in the heart of 220-acre Galgorm Castle Estate. A beautiful, calm setting that allows for an enjoyable and relaxing golfing experience.
Not to mention this golf course has been awarded IGTOA’s ‘Parkland Course of the Year 2014’ award and is home to the European Tour’s Northern Ireland Open.
Another Golf Course, just a little further away is the Royal Portrush Golf Course located just 20minutes from Tullyglass. This course, also known as The Dunluce Links course, is considered one of the best in the world. It has been ranked number 4 in “The 100 Greatest course in the British Isles” and number 12 in the world. And for good reason!
The Masserene Golf Course, also located 20minutes from the hotel, is known for its picturesque 18-hole par-72 parkland course. When you visit you will be astounded by the beautiful views over Lough Neagh, especially during the summer months. This course is perfect for golfers of all levels as they welcome all with open arms.
If you don’t mind a little drive you can play on the Royal Co. Down Championship course that measures over 7,200 yards of well known holes around the world. This course is located 45minutes from the hotel. But the drive is worth it as it was voted the best Golf Course in the world by US magazine Golf Digest in 2016.

The 2021 Irish Open
We couldn’t mention golfing at Tullyglass House Hotel and Residence without mentioning Northern Ireland’s most famous golf tournaments – The Irish Open.
The Irish Open has been played across Ireland since 1975 when it was in Co.Wicklow. From then golfing legends have come from all over the world to play on Ireland’s most beautiful greenery. Last year Tullyglass had front row seats to this event as it was held in the Galgorm Castle Golf Club just across the road! This famous tournament has been taking place in Northern Ireland four times since 2012. Fingers crossed it will take place beside us again soon!
Even though this year’s Irish Open is set to take place from 1st July in the Mount Juliet Estate, in Kilkenny, Tullyglass will still be celebrating this tournament in Austins Bar and Restaurant!
